Captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has said, his 50th goal for the country came rather late as he was hoping to achieve that feat in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
According to the skipper, he prepared paraphernalia in Gabon hoping to share and celebrate with fans after hitting the all time top scorer mark.
"My aim was to score in the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and the Tshirts were printed for the celebrations but it did not happen,"he stated.
He added that, "I had to bring it to Kumasi hoping to score and by the Grace of God it happened and everyone is excited."
The captain stressed that he is extremely excited about making it into the history books and he is always confident and ready to find the back of the net anytime he played.
Gyan scored the 50th goal in 102 appearances for the nation during the 5-0 thrashing of Ethiopia by the Black Stars in the 2019 AFCON qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
