Ghana and Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has announced his retirement from international football, bringing his Black Stars career to an end.
The 32-year-old announced his decision in a statement, saying he believed the time had come to end his journey with the Ghana national team.
“I leave happy, proud and with the peace of mind of knowing that I gave everything every time I wore this shirt,” Williams said.
He said representing Ghana had given him much more than football, allowing him to reconnect with his roots and experience the pride of playing for his country.
“Ghana has given me much more than football. It has allowed me to come back home, feel even closer to my roots and experience the enormous pride of representing my country and wearing this flag on my chest,” he added.
Williams expressed gratitude to everyone who had been part of his international career and thanked Ghanaians for the love and support they had shown him.

He also pledged to continue supporting the Black Stars despite no longer being part of the team.
“Ghana will always be a part of me. I will continue supporting the Black Stars as one of you, wherever I am,” he said.
Williams switched his international allegiance to Ghana in 2022 after previously representing Spain at youth level. He went on to become a regular member of the Black Stars and represented the country at major international competitions, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
His retirement brings an end to a four-year international career with Ghana.
