Ghana international defender Jonas Adjetey has completed a move from FC Basel to German Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg.

The centre-back has put pen to paper on a long-term deal that will keep him at the Volkswagen Arena until 2030.

Wolfsburg sporting director Pirmin Schwegler hailed the signing, highlighting Adjetey’s physical presence and defensive qualities.

“Jonas is a physically strong player, quick and dominant in duels. He brings exactly the qualities we need in our defence,” he said.

“Over the past three and a half years at FC Basel, he proved himself both in the league and internationally. We have high expectations for Jonas and are convinced he will immediately strengthen our team,” he added.

The transfer is believed to be worth around €10 million.

Adjetey made 15 appearances across all competitions this season at FC Basel and established himself as a key figure in defence.

The 24-year-old, who has featured for Ghana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, will be eager for regular playing time in Germany as he pushes to secure a place in the Black Stars squad ahead of the World Cup, set to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
