Asante Kotoko have officially named experienced South African tactician Eric Tinkler as the club's new head coach ahead of the new season.
The club announced the appointment on Friday, July 17.
Tinkler, a former captain of South Africa's national team, Bafana Bafana, and holds a CAF A Licence with more than 30 years of experience in elite football.
Tinkler has coached several top South African clubs, including Cape Town City, SuperSport United, Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits.
During his time with the above-mentioned clubs, he guided Orlando Pirates to a runner-up finish in the CAF Champions League and SuperSport United to the final of the CAF Confederation Cup. He has also won domestic honours, including the MTN 8 and the Telkom Knockout.
Club Chairman James Osei Brown welcomed the appointment, describing Tinkler as a coach with experience, discipline and a winning mentality.
"Eric brings a wealth of experience, discipline and winning pedigree to our technical bench. His track record of developing players and delivering results at the highest level in African football makes him the right man to lead our team at this important time. We warmly welcome him to the Fabulous family and look forward to the success ahead," he said.
Reacting to his appointment, Tinkler expressed his excitement about joining the Ghanaian giants.
