Asante Kotoko have officially confirmed Abdul Karim Zito as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

Zito initially stepped into the role on an interim basis following the departure of Prosper Narteh Ogum midway through last season.

He was also expected to transition into the position of technical director for the upcoming campaign.

However, after a strong finish to the season, the club’s board has decided he is the right man to lead from the touchline.

"We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey as our new head coach for the next two years. #AKSC #Fabucensus #Kotoko4All," the club announced.

Under his short stint, Zito made an immediate impact by guiding the Porcupine Warriors to five wins in eight matches, with two ending in draws.

His most notable achievement came in the MTN FA Cup, where he led the team to victory with a 2-1 win over Golden Kick in the final.

The former Dreams FC boss, who had steered the Dawu-based side to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, will now look to bring that same pedigree to Kotoko’s continental campaign next season.
