Former Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Yaw Bawuah, has passed on, the football club has confirmed.

Close family sources say the football legend died in the early hours of Friday, January 14, 2022.

His death at 82 occurred in Kumasi and has since thrown the Asante Kotoko family into mourning.

Chairman Yaw Bawuah as he was called, excelled when he handled the Ghanaian giants in the 1980s.

He was the chairman of Asante Kotoko when the Porcupine Warriors defeated Egyptian giants Al Ahly to lift their second CAF champions league trophy in 1983.

The likes of Asante Kotoko legends Opoku Nti, Papa Arko, Joseph Carr and former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah all played for the Reds during his tenure.
