Asante Kotoko has confirmed the permanent transfer of striker Albert Amoah to Libyan outfit Al Ahli Benghazi.

In a statement released on Friday night, the Ghana Premier League giants said: “We can confirm the permanent transfer of forward Albert Amoah to Libyan side AL AHLY BENGHAZI.”

“Asante Kotoko is grateful to Albert for his services to the club and his achievements with us. We wish him the very best for the future.”

The announcement came just two hours after Kotoko suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final round in Casablanca, a loss that sealed a 6-1 aggregate exit following a 1-0 first-leg defeat at home.

Amoah departs as Kotoko’s leading scorer, having netted four goals in five matches this season.

The former Great Olympics forward enjoyed a productive 2024–25 campaign, scoring 12 goals in 28 league appearances, and was expected to build on that form.

On the continental stage, Amoah made his mark with two goals in four appearances during the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary rounds, despite Kotoko’s early exit.

With Amoah’s departure, the responsibility of leading the Porcupine Warriors’ attack now falls to Guinean striker Donzo Morifing, who is yet to find the net in seven appearances across all competitions.
