Milovan Rajevac has been sacked as the head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The Serbian who was appointed in September last year has lost his job after Ghana's poor show in Cameroon.

The Serbian was tasked to win AFCON 2021 and receive $300,000 as a bonus package. However, he failed to hit the jackpot after leading the Black Stars to exit the tournament in the group stage for the first time in 16 years.

In a group that contained Morocco, Gabon and Comoros, the Black Stars failed to win a single game, finishing bottom of with only a point.

A statement from the Ghana Football Association announcing Milovan’s removal is expected soon.

Rajevac guided the Black Stars to the final of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they lost narrowly to Egypt.

He also led Ghana to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in South Africa, making them only the third African nation to reach that far.

Rajevac quit Ghana after the World Cup on 8 September 2010, and took up a position with Saudi Arabian team Al-Ahli a day later.

He left the Saudi club in February 2011 to take up the role as national team coach for Qatar.

He was relieved of duties in August 2011.

In June 2016 he was appointed as manager of the Algerian national team. He resigned from the position in October 2016, after two matches.

He was in charge for 9months of Thailand before defeat to India triggered the sack in April 2019.

He has returned to manage the Ghana national team for a second time in September 2021.
