Minister of Youth and Sports congratulates Kwesi Nyantekyi

In a total display of maturity and professionalism, the Minister of Youth and Sports has moved beyond the “war” between himself and President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA) to congratulate the later on his election to the Executive Council of FIFA.

 

In a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Otor Plahar, the Minister has congratulated Nyantakyi and acknowledged his effort in the growth of football in Ghana and at the continental level.

“Nyantakyi’s election is an acknowledgement of his contributions to the sport of football in Ghana and Africa as a whole and an important landmark in the development of Ghana football,” the stated noted.

The Minister said,” the Ministry has received the news of your election to the high office of FIFA with joy and we believe you would bring your diverse experience to bear on your new position. Furthermore, it is our hope that as an Executive Council member of FIFA, you would help to institute the necessary reforms needed to improve the game of football in the country.”

The FA President has been elected into FIFA's Executive Committee Council on Thursday after a keenly contested elections in Cairo, Egypt.

Mr. Nyantakyi would arrive in the country this afternoon and expected to be welcomed by state officials and individuals in the sports fraternity.
