Neymar finally says goodbye to team-mates as he heads to PSG

Neymar looks to be edging ever closer to a world-record £196million move to Paris Saint-Germain after an abrupt visit to Barcelona's training ground on Wednesday.

The Brazilian drove into the Joan Gamper facilities with two friends half an hour before training, but reports suggest he stayed just 43 minutes before leaving again.

It is understood Barcelona have given Neymar permission to leave the club, and he now looks closer than ever to quitting the Catalan club for pastures new.

Spanish radio station RAC1 report that Neymar's visit to the training ground was to say his goodbyes to team-mates as he prepares for a move to PSG. 

It is now expected that Neymar will head to Paris to continue negotiations, ahead of completing his money-spinning move to Ligue 1. 

His former agent Wagner Ribeiro also waded into the news on Twitter on Wednesday, appearing to troll Barcelona with some kind words about Paris.

The Brazilian, who has over 70,000 followers on the social media site, wrote: 'Paris wonderful, the Eiffel Tower, wine, gastronomy and football.' 

Meanwhile, Neymar had only arrived back in Spain on Tuesday evening following a trip to the Middle East, and after a short rest was on his way to the training ground.

He arrived at the club's Joan Gamper training ground at 9am local time with two friends, wearing sunglasses to shield his eyes from the Spanish sun.

In a blue Audi sports car, Neymar's arrival came half an hour before a scheduled training session, but the forward did not take part.

There were reports on Tuesday that the unsettled 25-year-old was keen to head home to Brazil to think about his future, but that has not come to fruition. 

Sportsmail understands that relations between the player and Barcelona are at an all-time low after the club withheld a payment to Neymar Senior on Monday.

He is edging ever closer to a world-record transfer that would drastically improve PSG's chances at a much-needed Champions League triumph, and significantly hinder Barcelona's.

Neymar had been in China this week to take part in Barcelona sponsorship responsibilities, before boarding a flight to Dubai on Tuesday.

That fuelled reports that a move to PSG was close, given that the club's owners are based in the Middle East with chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi a hugely successful Qatari businessman.

The Brazilian was heavily active on social media, looking cool, calm and collected as he posed for a picture while he dined out with his friends.

Neymar sang lyrics to Thiaguinho's 'Energia Surreal' as he was in a jovial mood with his close companions - including Jo Amancio and Alvaro Costa.  

He also shared an excerpt of the New Testament (Philippians 4:11) which conveyed that he was remaining strong despite controversy.

'I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

'I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.' 

The outgoing Barcelona star is expected to pen a six-year deal with the French club worth more than £500,000-a-week.

Senior figures in the Barcelona side such as Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta have publicly and privately attempted to persuade Neymar his future is best-served in Spain. 

However the Catalan club now seem destined to lose one-third of their ruthless three-pronged attack which also consists of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
