Brazil have booked a place in the quarterfinals of the Russia 2018 World Cup after a 2-0 win over Mexico.

A very even first half, Mexico started the better of the two sides, created few chances and threatened to score.

Brazil took over in the last few minutes of the first half and attacked from all angles but a steady Mexican defence ensured it ended goalless in the first half.

Brazil got the breakthrough in the 53rd minute of the second half.

Willian played a lovely pass into the box and found Neymar who stretched and tapped the ball into an empty net to make it 1-0 to Brazil.

From that point, the five-time World Cup winners took control of the game.

They pushed for their second goal and scored in the 88th minute.

Neymar displayed great vision and sent a pass to Roberto Firmino, who showed brilliant composure inside the box to bury the ball from close range.
