A boring first half saw both teams give little to suggest they want to win the game.
Sweden started brightly but Switzerland took control of the game.
Both teams created few half chances as the game ended 0-0 in the first half.
The second half was a bit lively as they both went in search of that goal that will send them to the quarterfinals.
Sweden finally got the all-important goal in the 66th minute.
A shot from Emil Forsberg deflected off Switzerland defender Manuel Akanji to make it 1-0 to Sweden.
Switzerland became more purposeful from that point and search for the equalizer but Sweden held on to win 1-0.
Switzerland had Michael Lang sent off in the final minutes of the game.
They will now face the winner of the game between England and Colombia.
