Defending champions of the English Premier League, Leicester City today started the 2016/2017 season with 2-1 defeat to premier league returnees, Hull City at the KCOM Stadium.

The Tigers  who went into the opening game of the season without a manager have been tipped as candidates to be relegated this season.

Nonetheless, goals from Adams Diomande and Robert Snodgrass handed them a flawless start to their campaign to stay in the premiership.

Diomande broke the deadlock one minute into injury to end the first half 1-0 in favour of Hull.

Two minutes after the interval, last season's PFA Players' Player of the Year, Riyad Mahrez equalised for the Foxes from a penalty after Demarai Gray was fouled in the box.

But Snodgrass, in the 57th minute, drilled home from the edge of the box following Leicester's failure to deal with a cross.

This season's competition will be simply called The Premier League as it has gone ahead without any title sponsor.

The biggest game of Premier League 2016 of the first week will be Arsenal hosting Liverpool at the emirate stadium on August 14 which is tomorrow at exactly 1500GMT
