Gladson Awako, Sammy Adjei begin License D Coaching course

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Residential License D Coaching Course for the Greater Accra Region which commenced on Sunday, February 20, 2022 is ongoing at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram.

This batch of participants include Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako and former Black Stars Goalkeeper Sammy Adjei.

The session is supervised by GFA Coaching Instructors and Coach Educators including the Technical Director, Bernhard Lippert and Director of Coaching Education, Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah.

GFA reschedules Kotoko, Hearts of Oak matchday 19 games

Following the decision of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) to sanction the President’s Cup between Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko SC, their Premier League Match Day 19 games have been rescheduled.

The President’s Cup will be played in honor of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President of the Republic of Ghana on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Accra Sports stadium. The match also forms part of Ghana’s Independence Anniversary celebration.

 

As a result, the Premier League game between Bechem United FC and Asante Kotoko SC has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 8, while the game between Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Real Tamale United FC has been moved to Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

After AFCON glory, Senegal ushers in world class 50,000-seater stadium

Thousands of Senegalese gathered on Tuesday for the inauguration of a 50 000-seater stadium aimed at making the country Africa's go-to venue for international events.

The stadium is in Diamniadio, a town being built about 30 kilometres from the capital Dakar, for which an express train link opened in December.

The venue, to be named in honour of former president Abdoulaye Wade, will be the only one in Senegal certified for international football.

Ghana risks losing hosting rights for 2023 African Games

The Association of African Federations has threatened to withdraw the 2023 African Games which will be hosted by Ghana.

The Body claims it has not been involved in the planning of the games.

However, Local organizing committee (LOC) chairman Dr Kwaku Ofosu Asare said government is engaging all stakeholders to ensure a successful event is held.

Russia risks losing Champions League final over Ukraine crisis

UEFA is almost certain to switch this season's Champions League final away from St Petersburg amid the Ukraine-Russia crisis.

Russia has ordered troops into two rebel-held regions of Ukraine and there are fears an invasion is planned.

Several countries, including the UK, have introduced sanctions against Russia in response to the move.
