Trent, Palmer and Foden left out as Tuchel names England's World Cup squad

Thomas Tuchel has named his England squad to travel to the 2026 World Cup summer.

The German has made some big decisions on his squad, with Phil Foden and Cole Palmer the headline omissions from the travelling group.

Harry Maguire, Morgan Gibbs-White, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Adam Wharton are other notable absentees, though there's a recall fo Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney for the first time since June.

Maguire confirmed his omission on social media on Thursday, with the 33-year-old stating he was 'shocked and gutted' to miss out.

John Stones is selected at centre-back, despite only playing 361 minute of Premier League football forManchester City this season. Stones is joined by City teammate Marc Guehi among the centre-back options, with Ezri Konsa, Jarell Quansah and Dan Burn also selected.

Tino Livramento has made the cut at right-back, despite doubts over the Newcastle's defender's fitness.

Harry Kane will captain England at the tournament, following a career-best campaign at Bayern Munich. The 32-year-old has scored 58 goals across all competitions and will be targeting a second World Cup Golden Boot, having won the award in 2018.

The2026 World Cup will take place in Canada, Mexico and USA between 11 June and 19 July. The Three Lions face Croatia in their first fixture on 17th June.
