Ghana’s Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko has disclosed that his outfit is ready to take on any team in the U-23 AFCON.

Ghana will know her opponents as the AFCON draw comes off on October 2 at the Haramlek Palace, inside the historical Montaza Complex, Alexandria.

Speaking ahead of the draw, the former Assistant coach for the Cameroon national team from 2010-2013 says Ghana is battle-ready for any nation in the 8-team tournament.

“We are waiting for the official draw which is on the 2nd of October and our aim to qualify. We will take on any team that the draw throws at us," he said.

The coach added the team is not only going to the tournament to participate but to secure qualification to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

"If you want to qualify, you must win against any team. We are going to concentrate 100%.

"I don’t think we have any stumbling block ahead of the tournament. We have to prepare very well.

"We have to go with the mentality of winning the cup and so if we even finish second or third, we will qualify for the Olympics.”

The Black Meteors booked their place to the competition which kicks off from November 8-22, 2019 after edging the Fennec Foxes of Algeria 2-1 on aggregate.

The top three finishers at the final tournament will qualify to represent Africa at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Egypt, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia are the team’s vying for the three slots to qualify to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
