The Black Stars of Ghana were held to a goalless draw by Uganda in the FIFA World Cup qualifier played at Tamale this afternoon.
The Stars despite playing to a full stadium failed to get the all-important first three points as the begin their World Cup qualification at home.
Uganda came into the game with massive resilience as they managed to hold the Black Star’s attack led by Asamoah Gyan from causing trouble.
The host had little to show for the first half as they were unable to penetrate the defense of Uganda to create decent scoring chances.
The Avram Grant side, came out strongly in the second half in search of a goal but the visitors ensured that they shared the spoils at the end of 90 minutes.
Grant made three substitutions in search of a breakthrough but they could not find the back of the visitor’s net.
Emmanuel Agyemang Badu came on for Afriyie Acquah while Majeed Warris replaced Christian Atsu and Leicester’s Jeffery Schlupp for Frank Acheampong but all to avail.

The Stars are in Group E and would be competing with Egypt and Congo for the slot at Russia.
Ghana however paid respect to the departed former coach, Fred Osam Duodo before the game.
Duodo led Ghana to the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations title and died on Tuesday after a shirt illness.
Interestingly, the Black Stars defeated Uganda to win the continental title and he was an assistant when Ghana won her last Nations Cup trophy in Libya 1982.
