The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday defeated visiting Desert Foxes of Algeria 3-1 in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Chelsea’s utility player, Victor Moses, grabbed a brace with skipper Mikel Obi also getting on the score sheet.

The win placed Nigeria on top of Group B with six points; Cameroon are second with two points after two draws while Zambia and Algeria stay at third and fourth respectively with one point apiece.

The Nigerians were dominant the entire game and ensured that they did not give Algeria danger man, Riyad Mahrez too much space to operate.

While Victor Moses ensured that he transferred his superb form in Chelsea into the national team as he did not only get two goals but had a splendid game.

The game was expected to be keenly contested by the two heavyweights in African football but the Nigerians, who are desperate to qualify for the world cup, gave a good account of themselves.
