Black Stars B forward, Joseph Esso, says the team will put in their maximum best to record victory against Burkina Faso in this evening's clash in the ongoing WAFU 2019 tournament.

Ghana will be meeting the Black Stallions at the Stade Lat Dior at 8:00 pm today October 4 in the last 8 after they recorded a slim victory over the Gambia on Tuesday while Burkina Faso beat Mauritania 4-3 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Hearts of Oak marksman Esso, whose goal powered coach Maxwell Konadu's charges to the quarterfinal says the team is optimistic of victory over Burkina Faso despite the recent setbacks against the West Africa nation.

The Black Stallions last month defeated the Black Stars B by a lone goal at the Accra Sports Stadium in the 2020 CHAN qualifiers.

“I think Ghanaians were disappointed in that game we played against Burkina Faso in Ghana recently but I want to tell the fans that the team will go all out and give our maximum best.

I am urging the fans to keep praying for us and to keep supporting us and we will give them what they want. We are assuring them of victory against Burkina Faso today.”

Success for Ghana will set them up in a semi-final clash with either Togo or Cote d’Ivoire.

Ghana is hoping to retain the WAFU Cup of Nations title it won in 2017 at home.
