Born the same year the aeroplane was invented,  Britain's oldest person has died at the age of 113.
Mrs Hooper broke a Guinness World Record last year when she became the oldest person to undergo a hip replacement operation.

She and her late husband, Leslie married in 1922 but she was widowed in 1977 when Leslie, who was a pilot in the Flying Corps in the two world wars, died.

Born on January 18, 1903 in South London, she, three days to her 112th birthday in January 2015, became the oldest verified living person in Britain on the death of Ethel Lang, who was 114 years old.

Her son, Derek, 85 confirmed she passed away on Saturday, July 9 at the nursing home where she lived in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
