US President Donald Trump is expected to demand for increased international pressure on North Korea over its continued pursuit of a nuclear weapons programme when he addresses the United Nations General Assembly later today – Tuesday September 19th, 2017.
It will be his first speech to the world body and will take place at 10:30 New York time (14:30 GMT).
In a disclosure to the global media, White House officials said he would refer to Islamist militants as "losers" and criticize Iran and Venezuela.
In addition, the officials said the President would urge the UN member states to act against North Korea's "destabilizing, hostile and dangerous behavior".
On additional possible expectations from the speech, President Trump, earlier hinted that the US might cut its UN funding.
Commenting on such possibility, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres told the press if the US withdraws from international affairs the void left will be filled by others.
