In Kpasa in the Nkwanta North district of the Volta Region, a 65-year-old widow, Fatima Nyande, has lost her life savings of GHc 2,000 to termites after she buried her money in her compound in a hole under some firewood.
According to Madam Nyande, she chose to hide her daily sales in the hole because she did not trust the banks.
The widow stated that “I started saving the money in the dug hole at home after dubious financial companies absconded with my Gh¢4,000.00.”
Madam Nyande cautioned the public to save their monies in the banks as they appeared to be a better alternative.
