President Akufo-Addo has assured residents of the Northern region of the establishment of five warehouses to deal with unemployment in the area.

The President who ended his 3-day tour of the Northern Region, with visits to Tamale, Damango, and Buipe on Monday, July 23, 2018, noted that one out of the five warehouses will be sited at Buipe.

"This year alone, Government is establishing through the special development initiative ministry, 50 warehouses across the country and five warehouses in the Northern region", he said.

The warehouses will serve as storage for farm output and address the waste problems, thus curbing food insecurity in the country. It will also serve as a means of employment to the youth who will be assigned to manage the warehouses.

"For too long, volumes of farm produce have gone rotten in Ghana because we do not have any structure for storing and at the end of the year when these 50 warehouses are in place, that is also going to be a thing of the past”.

The 1-village-1-dam policy, he added, is being implemented in the three Northern Regions to ensure all-year-round farming. This, he said, has resulted in the ongoing construction of 570 dams in the three Northern Regions in 2018.
