GRIDCo and the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) have announced a planned shutdown of the Gas Processing Plant to complete critical repair works on a faulty system.

In a joint statement issued on April 19, 2026, the agencies said the shutdown is necessary to finalise the replacement of the Burner Management System (BMS), which was damaged following a major fault detected earlier this month.

According to the statement, the repair works are nearly complete, with about 90 percent of the installation already done. To complete the process, the plant will be shut down for five hours, from midnight to 5:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026.

GRIDCo and Ghana Gas assured the public that all necessary technical and operational measures have been put in place to ensure the work is completed within the scheduled timeframe.

They also indicated that steps have been taken to minimise the impact of the temporary shutdown on power supply to consumers.

The agencies reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a stable and reliable energy supply and apologised for any inconvenience the exercise may cause.
