Government in Cocoa factory construction deal with Iran

The Ghanaian government has entered into partnership with the Republic of Iran for the construction of a Cocoa factory in Ghana.

The disclosure follows a signing ceremony that took place at the Iranian capital – Tehran on Sunday 6th August 2017.

Prime Business gathered that the proposed Cocoa factory construction and operations will have one of Iran’s leading food and processing companies, Shirin Arsal Food Industrial Group managing it.

Furthermore, the proposed factory is expected to be a 30,000 metric tons capacity plant furnished with the latest cocoa processing technology.

The partnership has as its signatories the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto – representing the government of Ghana as well as the Vice President of Shirin Arsal, Amir Taghdisi signing on behalf the Iranian partner.

The commencement of the project will take place after final negotiations between the Ghanaian government and the foreign investor in Ghana’s capital – Accra before December this year.

The project is part of government's efforts at promoting the development of industries in the country and as a result create jobs.

It also reflects Iran’s progressive agenda to reach out to the rest of the world amidst some significant international issues-particularly, with the United States of America.

Today (Tuesday), Ghana’s Food and Agriculture Minister was with the Iranian Vice President as part of activities to wrap up his three days official visit to the Arab nation to discuss economic and other bilateral deals with Iran’s government as well as some key private sector players in the country.
