The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced new leadership changes with the appointment of Ing. Frank Asirifi Otchere as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective May 8, 2026.
The announcement was contained in a circular signed by the Board Chairperson, Kuukua Maurice Ankrah.
In the same communication, Ing. Samuel Nkansah has been named Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Finance and Resources, while Ing. Samed Abdul Ibrahim, who previously served as Director of the Project Implementation Unit, has been appointed Acting Deputy Chief Executive for Engineering and Operations.
Ing. Otchere now takes over leadership of GRIDCo, the state-owned company responsible for transmitting electricity across Ghana and contributing to the wider West African power network.
The company has called on staff to support the new leadership team as they assume their roles.
“We urge all staff to extend the necessary cooperation and support to the newly appointed executives in the discharge of their duties,” the statement said.
The leadership reshuffle comes at a time GRIDCo is working to improve operational stability and strengthen the national transmission system following recent challenges in the power sector.
The company has faced operational pressure in recent times, including a fire incident at the Akosombo switchyard control room, which disrupted parts of the national electricity transmission network.
The new appointments are expected to help reinforce management capacity and improve efficiency within the power transmission system.
