There is no doubt that one is likely to find a Nigerian in almost every part of the world engaged mostly in business or trade. However, the impression with the country – currently the most populated and largest market on the African continent, has not been all positive.

More so, the general tale of its alleged systemic corruption, the assumed perverseness of all its people, among others has made the daily lives of the majority of its hardworking and certainly hopeful people a lot more difficult (particularly doing business in other countries even neighboring ones).

In spite of this, Nigeria’s business people still thrive everywhere and those in Ghana are no exception to this.

In an exclusive interview with Prime Business, one of such Nigerians shares his story.

Husband and father of three as well as a phone accessories dealer resident in Accra – Ghana, Iyke Nnadi, from the eastern part of Nigeria arrived Ghana last year – 2016 in search for opportunity and has over the last one year, built a modest business of his own.

“When I arrived [Ghana], there was a negative impression about [my country - some people] said Nigerians can do anything to make money but I know that we are hardworking people: a Nigerian can come to any place and struggle himself out”, he said.

He pointed out that despite the few exemptions, they (Nigerians) are people of faith and in their business dealings are generally passionate about satisfying their customers, or clients and less inclined to exploit them as the impression has been.
