The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has begun scrutinising the Auditor-General’s Reports on the Public Accounts of Ghana on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), for the year ending 2018.
The Committee, chaired by the Deputy Minority Leader Mr. James Klutse, on Monday, February 7, 2022, looked at the Finance and Education ministries and the Departments and Agencies that fall under them.
These include Controller and Accountant General’s Department, Ghana Statistical Service, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) – which include Customs Division, Tema Oil Refinery, Free Zones- Tema, GRA- Customs Division-Elubo, GRA- Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD), GRA- Auctions Unit, GRA- Small Tax Office (STO), Tamale and GRA- Regional Budget Office, Tamale.

The Ministry of Education also presented Departments and Agencies such as: Headquarters and Treasury Payroll, Ghana Library Authority, Model Nursery School, Ghana Education Service - Ada East District Education office, Ghana Education Service - Nkawkaw, Ghana Education Service - Kpassa and Social Welfare Girls Vocational School-Cape Coast.
The duty of the 25-member Committee is to examine the audited accounts showing the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet the public expenditure of the government as presented to the House by the Auditor-General of Ghana.
The sittings usually reveal gross misappropriation of public funds and embezzlement.
