24-year-old Rebecca Asamoah, second runner-up of the Miss Ghana 2015 last Saturday became the first Miss Africa Continent.

She beat 15 other contestants from Angola, Burundi, Lesotho, Nigeria, Rwanda, Namibia, South Africa and other African countries to win the pageant which was held at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City Casino, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Contestants showcased African beauty on stage and also used the platform to advocate for change, highlighting the continent’s challenges such as poverty, high mortality rate, xenophobic mentality and lack of education.

But in the end, it was Dental Surgery Assistant from Ghana who was adjudged winner.

Late last year she put up an equally good performance to win the second runner-up slot at the 2015 edition of the Miss Ghana pageant in November.

On that fateful night, she also went home with Miss Congeniality, Miss Fitness and Most Disciplined prizes. Therefore, her winning of the Miss Africa Continent crown confirms her outstanding talent.

Miss Ghana 2015, Antoinette Delali Kemavor, and first runner-up Afua Asieduwaa Akrofi along with Inna Patty, CEO of Exclusive Events, organisers of Miss Ghana pageant, were in South Africa to support Rebecca, Daily Guide reported
