279 newly qualified Lawyers including NDC's National Communication officer aspirant, Sammy Gyamfi were on Friday, October 5, 2018, called to the Bar.

The induction ceremony for the newly qualified lawyers was held at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Speaking at the Induction ceremony, Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo called on the new lawyers to uphold the right values of the profession.

“Integrity and good character are of paramount importance in the legal profession. These are qualities cannot be counted, and yet they are of the greatest importance. Stated differently, a lawyer should not be distinguished by his or her wig and gown but rather by his or her ethical conduct, language, etiquette, knowledgeability, professionalism, etc."

Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo added that a lawyer's manners in speech and action as well as in their sartorial habits should stand them in good stead as a person of noble character,”

She also told the newly qualified Lawyers to be loyal prioritize integrity in all their endeavours since they have now become an asset to both their families and society.

Meanwhile, a highlight of the 2018 class is the infamous boycott of the Criminal Procedure paper sometime in May 2017.

It was students of the GIMPA and Accra Main Campuses of the Ghana School of Law that boycotted the exam when they realized that two of the questions had absolutely nothing to do with the subject.
