President  Akufo-Addo will leave Ghana for a state visit to China on Friday, 31 August 2018.

Akufo-Addo is expected to hold bilateral engagements with President Xi Jinping on economic relations between the two countries.

The Ghanaian president would be accompanied by a delegation to participate in a business forum in Chandong to woo investors and ensure that more business opportunities are open to Ghana.

Akufo-Addo will also attend the Forum on China-Africa Corporation (FOCAC), which will be attended by 40 heads of state from Africa who have signed up to Continental Free Trade Area, to discuss infrastructure, power, education and industry on the continent.

At least 8 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) are expected to be signed between China and Ghana.

These MOUs will focus on areas such as infrastructure, education, health and “smart cities”.

“When you have your President leading a business delegation, it opens more doors for business opportunities," the Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said at Presser.

The president’s visit is also to deepen Ghana’s relations with China.
