Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid has said under no circumstance will President Akufo-Addo allow a military base to be set up in Ghana.

According to Mustapha Hamid, the Ghana First demonstration organised by the Ghana First Patriotic Front against the Ghana-US Military agreement will not change anything because there is nothing in the Ghana-US Military agreement for the setting up of a military base.

The Ghana First Patriotic Front on Wednesday, March 28 staged a protest to register their displeasure on the approval of the Ghana-US military agreement by the Majority in Parliament.

The opposition NDC, PNC, APC some civil society groups also joined the protest claiming that the agreement meant the U.S. military will set up a base in Ghana.

However speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Wednesday, 4 April,  Mustapha Hamid said: “The demonstration won’t change anything because what they are demonstrating against, that is the military base, is nonexistent.”

“Never ever will Akufo-Addo allow a military base to be set up in Ghana, never!”
