The Bole Sawla road is now open for temporary use by small vehicles, tricycles, and pedestrians.

The bridge, which is the link between the Upper West Region and the south of Ghana, was washed away after hours of heavy rain on September 18, 2023.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Attah inspected the broken bridge two days later and assured that the road will be fixed within a week.

Briefing the media after inspecting work on the bridge on Thursday, September 28, a Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Thomas Mbomba, advised motorists to drive with caution on the stretch and follow safety measures put in place, as it is a temporary pathway.

"For now, it is a one way pathway so it is not a permanent road, so motorists should use it with caution as the ministry works tirelessly to fix it permanently," he said.

He, however, gave an assurance that the ministry was workingtirelessly to reinstate the road as soon as practicable.
