C/R: Police gun down two suspected armed robbers

Police in the Upper Denkyira District of the Central Region has gun down two suspected armed robbers at Anhwiahwia and Abura communities.

The police also retrieved one pump action gun and four live cartridges from the suspects.

The Upper Denkyira Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Innocent Avevor told the media that the police had information that these suspected armed men, wearing mask, had blocked the road leading to Anhwiahwia town junction on Thursday.

He said the police quickly moved to the scene and met the three armed men in mask with pump action guns.

 Chief Supt Avevor said one of the armed men, upon seeing the police, opened fire on them, which resulted in exchange of gun shots.

The Police Commander said in the process, two of the suspects died but one managed to escape.

The two have been deposited at the Upper Denkyira District Government Hospital.

Chief Supt Avevor therefore appealed to the general public to help apprehend the third accused person who is now at large.
