The Cambodian government has warned African nationals living in the country, including citizens of Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon and Uganda, to leave before May 31, 2026.
In an official notice released by the General Department of Immigration under the Ministry of Interior, authorities said a waiver currently granted to African nationals will end on that date.
According to the notice, any foreign national found in Cambodia from June 1, 2026, after overstaying will be arrested either at the airport or any location within the country.
The statement added that offenders could face up to two years in jail and would also be required to pay an $8,000 fine before being allowed to leave Cambodia.
Authorities further warned that police would begin searching for overstayers in different hideouts across the country starting June 1.
