Policy Think-Tank,Center for Democratic Development(CDD-Ghana) is calling for independent or external investigations in the contaminated oil saga involving the  Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation(BOST).

The outfit believes that there are certain loopholes that need to be addressed as far as the sale of contaminated fuel in the country is concerned.

The Bureau of National Investigations(BNI) and National Security, this week cleared the Managing Director of BOST, Alfred Boateng of any wrongdoing in the sale of the oil, known technically as off-spec to two unlicensed companies Movenpina Energy and Zup oil.

Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, Executive Director of CDD-Ghana, Prof Gyimah-Boadi, said an independent or external body must be allowed to carry out the investigations as he is not satisfied with the current findings.

"I am not satisfied with what I have seen or heard so far and will be far more pleased if an external investigation is carried out in such a situation. There are several questions which can only be answered by and independent body,"he stated.

He added that, "this is a test and an opportunity to say that the New Patriotic Party(NPP) government is not going to do business as usual and not engaging in equalization when allegations of corruption are made against members of government."

He stressed the findings of such a commission would be more  acceptable and credible and would  give an indication to all stakeholders that the issue has been handled convincingly, properly, creditably.
