Bernard Antwi Boasiako, affectionately called Chairman Wontumi, has been rushed to a hospital after undergoing hours of interrogation at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

This follows his earlier arrest and detention by EOCO on Tuesday afternoon.

Addressing the media, Wontumi's Lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi revealed that EOCO was interrogating his client when he fell sick and was rushed to the hospital.

The former MP for Asante Akim North indicated that Wontumi will resume with EOCO's interrogation when discharged. He, however, declined to name the hospital, he said.

He further disclosed that they have received a writ of summons from EXIM Bank, and they would hopefully respond tomorrow (May 28)

Just as Appiah-Kubi was about to disclose the charges leveled against Wontumi, the NPP supporters interrupted the interview.

Wontumi's arrest on Tuesday occurred shortly after he left the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra.

In a show of solidarity, large crowds of NPP supporters and regional executives gathered at the EOCO headquarters, demanding clarity and access to their colleague.

Their presence created a tense atmosphere, prompting the deployment of military personnel to the scene to ensure order and prevent any potential escalation.
