The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has cautioned recent high school graduates against the growing trend of sharing inappropriate and irresponsible statements on social media.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Authority said it had observed troubling posts from some graduates containing indecent language and intentions, including threats such as “we go scatter them” and comments about “snatching people’s husbands.” These statements, it noted, have gone viral and are attracting public concern.
The CSA reminded young people that while social media is a powerful tool for networking and expression, it also comes with serious responsibilities and long-term consequences. Irresponsible online behaviour, the Authority stressed, can damage reputations, harm academic and career prospects, and even expose individuals to cyberbullying, grooming, and exploitation.
It further warned that in severe cases, such conduct could breach Ghana’s cybercrime laws under the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), and the Electronic Communications Act.
The Authority urged graduates to maintain decency and use social media responsibly to promote creativity, entrepreneurship, and opportunities. It also pledged to continue working with the Ministry of Education, civil society groups, and community leaders to raise awareness about safe online practices.
