Newly sworn-in Auditor-General Dr Pamela Graham has pledged to work closely with staff of the Ghana Audit Service to strengthen existing systems and improve the institution rather than introduce sweeping changes.
Speaking after her swearing-in as Ghana's first female Auditor-General, Dr Graham said collaboration with the service's dedicated professionals would be key to building an institution that inspires public confidence.
She noted that although she brings 25 years of private sector experience, she recognises the unique demands of public service and intends to combine professional rigour with the expertise already within the Audit Service.
Dr Graham stressed that the integrity of public financial records is essential to good governance, warning that errors in the public ledger can undermine public trust and affect national decision-making.
She also welcomed the establishment of dedicated high courts to handle audit-related infractions, saying timely enforcement of audit findings is crucial to strengthening accountability.
Dr Graham pledged to serve with diligence, fairness and integrity while working to protect public resources and restore confidence in Ghana's public financial management system.
