The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that parts of the country are experiencing power outages following a heavy rainstorm that hit on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
In a statement, the company said the storm caused multiple faults on its network, resulting in power supply interruptions in several areas.
“Engineers are working assiduously to repair the faults and restore power supply,” the statement said.
Heavy downpours caused significant flooding in Ghana on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, affecting various parts of the country.
The heavy rainfall overwhelmed drainage systems and submerged homes, leaving commuters stranded. Areas affected included Kasoa, Ofankor Barrier, Weija, Kaneshie, Koforidua, Tema and parts of the country.
ECG in the statement expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to customers, assuring the public of its commitment to restoring service as quickly as possible.
“ECG regrets the inconvenience caused to affected customers,” the company added.
The utility company urged customers experiencing localized outages to reach out through its contact center on 0302 611 611, the nearest ECG office, or the ECG PowerApp.
Customers can also contact ECG via its social media handles @ECGghOfficial on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram for prompt assistance.
ECG noted that the latest disruptions form part of challenges associated with adverse weather conditions in recent weeks.
