The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Monday, December 11 donated 200 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in Accra, to enhance its smooth and effective operation.

Presenting the items on behalf of the ECG, the Board Chair, Mr Keli Gadzekpo, said it was to help the GPS to beef up security as the Christmas celebration was fast approaching.

He noted that the ECG was going to up the donation to 1000 motorbikes which meant that 800 more motorbikes were yet to be donated.

Receiving the motorbikes on behalf of the Police, the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, thanked the ECG for the support extended to his outfit.

He stated that the gesture by the ECG was a demonstration of the relationship that existed between the GPS and the company, adding that “The donation is a demonstration of the partnership between Police and ECG.”

Such a relationship, Dr Dampare was hopeful would continue, while urging other companies to emulate the kind gesture showed by the ECG.
