The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the commencement of Exercise Storm Shield 2026, a large-scale military training operation aimed at strengthening national security preparedness and operational readiness in the Bono and Upper East regions.

According to the military high command, the exercise will involve personnel from the Ghana Army, Air Force and Navy working together in simulated operations designed to improve coordination, combat readiness and rapid response capabilities.

The operation is expected to take place in selected communities across the two regions, with military vehicles, equipment and armed personnel deployed for various training activities. Residents have therefore been urged not to panic at the sight of increased military movement during the exercise period.

The Ghana Armed Forces said Exercise Storm Shield 2026 forms part of routine military drills conducted periodically to test the effectiveness of troops and enhance inter-service collaboration in addressing emerging security threats.

Military authorities also called on the public to cooperate fully with security personnel and adhere to all safety directives throughout the exercise.

The Ghana Armed Forces reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the territorial integrity of the country and ensuring peace and stability across Ghana.
