Seven (7) persons have been reported dead following an accident at Nkawada No. 2 on the Nkawkaw–Accra highway.
The accident is reported to have occurred on Tuesday, August 26, at around 1:47 pm.
According to reports, a sprinter bus, with registration number AW 4619-14, had picked up travellers from Somanya in the Eastern Region and was en route to Sefwi in the Western North Region.
The bus collided head-on with an oncoming cargo truck bearing registration GN 114-21 under circumstances that are now under investigation.
Six passengers died at the scene, with a seventh victim succumbing to injuries while being transported to the hospital. Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
The driver and mate of the cargo truck escaped unhurt but have been taken into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
Reports suggest the truck driver may have dozed off behind the wheel.
