The Ministry of Health has announced the temporary closure of the Nursing Training College at Techiman Krobo in the Bono East Region following unrest and the breakdown of discipline on campus.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the Ministry said the closure takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.
According to the Ministry, the decision was taken after persistent disturbances and violations of the institution’s rules and regulations despite several interventions aimed at restoring calm.
The Ministry disclosed that numerous meetings, counselling sessions and appeals involving key stakeholders, including the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), had been held to encourage dialogue and restore order.
However, some students reportedly continued to engage in conduct that disrupted academic activities and threatened the peace, safety and orderly administration of the college.
It explained that the temporary closure is intended to restore calm, safeguard lives and property, and allow the appropriate authorities to assess the situation and determine the necessary steps towards reopening the institution under conducive conditions.
The Ministry directed all students to vacate the campus peacefully and return to their respective homes by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Parents and guardians have also been advised to make the necessary arrangements to receive their wards.
The Ministry assured students, staff and the general public that every effort would be made to resolve the situation promptly and restore normal academic activities.
It added that information regarding the reopening of the college would be communicated through official channels in due course.
The Ministry further expressed appreciation to students, parents, staff and other stakeholders for their understanding, cooperation and support as efforts continue to restore a safe, peaceful and disciplined learning environment at the institution.
