Tension is high at Moshie Zongo, a suburb of Kumasi, following the demise of a 55 year-old suspect who died in police custody.

Police explained that the 55-year-old Boazor Bawoleyen passed away while receiving treatment at the Tafo Government Hospital, but the family insist the police narration is not the true reflection of what transpired.

The family alleged the late suspect was beaten and locked up after his arrest by a combined team of local watchdog team and police.

Police said Boazor Bawoleyen was undergoing trial after he was remanded by a Mampong Court.

Late Boazor was arrested on Friday, September 21, at about 2pm by police from the Divisional Command.

The family wants a thorough investigation into the demise of their relative.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Manhyia North Constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwah, has called for calm as the matter is being investigated.
