Nine individuals standing trial in connection with the shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, have been granted bail by the court.
The accused persons were each admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢500,000 with two sureties. As part of the bail conditions, the sureties are not required to justify the amount but must complete and sign a bail justification form.
The suspects including Israel Kwadwo Safo aka Akofena, the son of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo were arraigned before the Adenta Circuit court on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Other suspects are; Tamaklo Safo Jehosaphat, Kwabena Safo, Benjamin Amoakwa Sam, Badu Enock, Richard Ayitey, Gideon Safo, Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson.
The nine suspects have pleaded not guilty to five charges brought against them by the prosecution.
The charges include the use of offensive weapons, possession of offensive weapons, violation of laws prohibiting vigilante groups, unlawful discharge of firearms in public, and causing unlawful damage to property.
The case stems from an alleged shooting incident on Sunday, June 21 involving the former Member of Parliament, which is currently under investigation.
The court is expected to continue hearing the matter as prosecutors seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the role of the accused persons.
