The man who fired indiscriminately while the Ghana Service personnel were busily dousing an August 3, fire outbreak at Madina Redco has been granted bail.
Mustapha Iddrisu Danlad was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with three sureties who are to be residents within the jurisdiction of the court.
The court ordered that one of the sureties should be justified with a land title deed not less than GH¢50,000.
The court further ordered Danlad to report to the Madina Police every Wednesday.
Prosecution was also ordered to file their disclosures by October 23, 2025.
The substantive case has been adjourned to October 24, 2025.
Danlad was granted bail after the Police had verified and confirmed his fixed abode at Redco Flats in Accra.
Due to Danlad’s action, six persons were said to have been hit by the pellets from his pump action gun
Danlad has been charged with discharge of firearms without authority, possession of firearms without authority, and three counts of causing harm.
Accused, who claims to be a Task Force Officer with EOCO, pleaded not guilty.
Prosecution led by Chief Inspector Daniel Danku earlier on narrated that the complainant in the case was the Madina Divisional Police Command.
Prosecution said on August 3, 2025, at about 1300 hours, Officers from the Madina Police Command responded to a fire outbreak at Redco Flats, Madina.
According to the prosecution, while police officers were assisting the Fire Service personnel to douse the fire, a misunderstanding ensued between the accused and a group of people.
The court heard that soon after tempers were calmed down, Danlad left the scene and returned with a pump action gun and without any provocation, the accused persons started firing indiscriminately.
Due to the firing, people started running helter skelter.
The prosecutor said while people were running from the fire outbreak, the accused was busily firing towards the people and in the process six people were hit by the pellets from the pump action gun.
Prosecution said the victims were rushed to the hospital where some were treated and discharged and others were referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
According to the prosecutor, Danlad after the act went into hiding. On September 12 at about 0500 hours, Danlad was spotted at Madina Redco and he was picked up by the police.
Danlad in his investigation caution statement admitted the offence.
