The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested 10 students of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) for allegedly producing and selling cannabis-infused drinks and ice cream during the school's SRC Hall Week celebration.
The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation carried out between Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1, 2026.
According to NACOC, the suspects were caught while allegedly selling the products to students and other people attending the event.
The Commission identified the suspected leader of the group as 23-year-old Priscilla Tetteh, who was arrested together with nine other students.
Preliminary investigations suggest the group had organised a network to produce, distribute and sell cannabis-infused food and drinks on campus.
NACOC said the operation has disrupted what it described as an emerging criminal enterprise targeting young people at social events and educational institutions.
The Commission stressed that cannabis-infused food, drinks and other edible products containing controlled substances are illegal in Ghana. It warned that anyone involved in producing, selling or possessing such products would face the full force of the law.
NACOC also expressed concern about the growing trend of young people using entertainment events to promote and sell narcotic substances.
The Commission urged parents, university authorities, student leaders and the public to report suspected drug-related activities to help protect students from substance abuse.
"The 10 suspects remain in NACOC custody and will be processed in accordance with the law," NACOC said.
