NDC Justifies formation of "hawks and dragons" vigilante groups

The National Democratic Congress(NDC), has justified reasons for the new breed of vigilante groups that are being groomed by the party.

The Party is reported to be grooming a new breed of vigilante groups-the hawks and the dragons.

General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has endorsed the establishment of these vigilante groups saying the failure of the New Patriotic Party to disband their vigilante groups has informed their decision to also form their groups.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Joy Fm, monitored by PrimeNewsGhana, he added, it also forms part of efforts to protect the internal structures of the Party.

"For two years now, we have all been complaining about the rising level of vigilantism in this country. The President promises that something will be done, and nothing gets done, some of us have been affected by these vigilante groups, and nothing has been done."

He added the NDC will endorse any emerging Vigilante group in the Party to protect themselves.

"And they are now in charge of the security services, and they still maintain Party Vigilantes terrorising people all the time,we will endorse any emerging vigilante group in the NDC if that is the way to protect ourselves and all the security services are quite, even when you report on an attack they don't do anything about it, and you think we should keep quiet for NPP to control the Army,? Asiedu Nketiah quizzed.
