A 30-year-old female Journalist has been stabbed to death at Bekwai in the Ashanti region.

The deceased, Ama Agyeiwaa Kodie, popularly known as Portia was a news Anchor for Bekwai based DESS FM.

A colleague journalist, speaking in an interview with Host Kwabena Marfo on OK FM, Monday, 16 April, 2018 narrated that Ama was found dead in a pool of blood in her residence on Sunday evening.

He added that the journalist left behind a 5-year-old daughter who seemed to have witnessed the incident and suffered from its shock. Witnesses believe that the deceased could have been murdered by her boyfriend, who was spotted at a Drinking bar in the town Sunday afternoon although he is not a resident of the town.

He also revealed that Police assessment of the disorder at the crime scene indicate that there was a struggle before the journalist was stabbed, however, they could not find the victim's cellphone as it appears it may have been taken by the suspect.

"Police also questioned the daughter of the late news anchor to ascertain what happened but all she could tell them was "Dad", her colleague said.

It is unclear what the little girl means by that since the deceased did not have a husband, but an alleged lover.

The journalist sustained knife wounds in her chest area which eventually led to her death on Sunday, April 15, 2018.

Bekwai Municipal Police Commander, DSP Edward Obeng Boateng, has confirmed the incident adding that investigations into the case are ongoing.
